The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) participated in the 1st AUAP–WURI Impact Summit 2026, jointly organized by the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), and AI-Stat, South Korea, held on 9–10 July 2026 at ICONSIAM, Bangkok, Thailand. Under the theme, "University Innovation in Partnership with Government: Policy, Mechanism, and Impact," the inaugural summit brought together university leaders, researchers, policymakers, government representatives, embassy officials, and higher education experts from around the world to exchange innovative ideas, strengthen international collaboration, and explore how universities and governments can work together to create meaningful and sustainable impact.

Following a thorough peer-review process, two research projects from AIUB were selected for the summit, and both were presented during the two-day event. "AIUB and the Magna Charta Universitatum Observatory (MCO): A Transformative Model for Responsible and Responsive Higher Education," was presented by Md. Imranul Haque, Manager and QA Program Evaluator, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The AIUB-MCO research project achieved 3rd place among more than 120 projects submitted for the summit, recognizing AIUB's commitment to responsible, innovative, community-engaged, and globally responsive higher education. Another project, "Design and Development of a Water Surface Cleaning Boat for Sustainable Cities," was presented by Dr. Gour Chand Mazumder, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), showcasing an innovative engineering solution to address water pollution and promote sustainable urban development.

The University's participation in the summit, including the initiation, coordination, submission, and overall management of the WURI-related activities, was led by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), which has played a pivotal role in AIUB's significant achievements in the WURI Rankings since 2022. The Office of Research coordinated the University's internal research-related activities and provided support for the presentation of the research projects.

During the summit, AIUB also signed the “AWIS 2026 Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Global University Innovation and Cooperation”, reaffirming the University's commitment to strengthening international collaboration in higher education, research, innovation, and sustainable development. The summit also provided valuable networking opportunities with universities from different countries, paving the way for future Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), collaborative research, faculty and student exchange, and other academic cooperation initiatives. AIUB's participation in this inaugural global summit further reflects its continued dedication to academic excellence, quality assurance, institutional innovation, and meaningful global engagement.
